AVIATION AND SPACE is one of eight named industry lines. SAL describes it as advancing aerospace technologies with a focus on efficiency, safety, TECHNOLOGICAL SOVEREIGNTY and sustainability, spanning power electronics, sensor systems, AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS, and communication and networking technologies — from components through to complex system solutions. INFRASTRUCTURE. The SAL Validation Lab in Graz tests technologies under realistic and extreme conditions — mechanical, physical, environmental and chemical — from research through quality assurance. Recent work includes a European platform for lithium-niobate thin films with SHINCRON, an expanded thin-film deposition partnership with Evatec, installation of the first European ULVAC NLD-5700 TFLN etching system, and the 5G-aNTeNna project.
