Pillar Analysis
Strategic Assessment
Strategic Vector
AAD is positioned as a small Austrian UAS industry association focused on regulatory representation, community networking, knowledge exchange, and convening rather than commercial product development. Recent public activity indicates continued ecosystem engagement, but no evidence in the available sources of major scaling, ownership change, or significant commercialization.
Efficiency Ratio
The small team appears resource-efficient in convening national stakeholders and maintaining an active information presence, although publicly observable outputs remain primarily events, advocacy, and information services.
Evidence Signals
AAD chair Raoul Fortner presented an update on EU drone regulations and their implementation in Austria at the Drone Festival Anras.
Background · older than 12 months
AAD helped organize Drone Forum Austria, bringing together approximately 200 participants from the drone community, research, industry, and authorities.
AAD was listed alongside BMK, FFG, and Austro Control as an organizing institution for Drone Forum Austria 2025.
- About
- AAD — Austrian Association for Drones (Drohnenverband AAD), founded 2022, based at Bauernmarkt 6/11 in Vienna's first district. Two to ten staff. It offers networking, knowledge exchange and interest representation for the professional UAS community in Austria.
- Relevancy
- Austria's drone association, founded 2022 with a small team. The natural convening body for the professional drone community — and, at four years old, evidence that this community is still in the process of organising itself rather than already established.
